The dove fields
at first light.

The day begins before dawn. A pre-dawn transfer takes the group to the dove fields as the sky shifts from black to grey, and shooting starts the moment legal light arrives. The doves move in waves from roost to feeding fields — fast, low, and in numbers that most North American wingshooters have never seen.

NP Outdoors operates exclusively in Entre Ríos, where the species mix — white-winged dove and eared dove — produces a consistent, high-quality flight. A morning session runs approximately four hours, finishing naturally when the flight slows around 10:30 or 11am. By the time the group is back at the lodge for lunch, the shell count is already exceptional — and the afternoon is still ahead.

  • High-volume dove shooting year-round Dove season in Entre Ríos is open 365 days a year. No closed season, no planning around dates.
  • Bird boys and field team included A full crew loads, retrieves birds and keeps you shooting. You focus entirely on the sky.
  • Ammunition included Quality shells are provided at the stand. You can bring your own shotgun or use a lodge gun.

Golden Dorado fly fishing Paraná River Argentina

Golden Dorado
on the Paraná.

The Paraná River runs along the western edge of Entre Ríos — 40 minutes from the lodge by vehicle. It is one of the great freshwater fishing rivers in the world, and the Golden Dorado is its signature species: a fast-moving, ambush predator that attacks surface lures and flies with a violence that shocks first-time anglers.

Dorado fight dirty. They hit like a freight train, jump, run, and shake their heads with enough force to throw a poorly set hook at any moment. An experienced Dorado angler on the right piece of water on a good afternoon can land 10 to 20 fish. Even a slow day on the Paraná produces memories that anglers carry for decades.

  • Experienced local guides on the Paraná Our fishing guides know the river's holding water, the tides, and how Dorado move through the season.
  • Fly fishing and spin fishing both available Dorado are equally catchable on fly or lure. No prior fly fishing experience required.
  • All tackle and equipment provided Rods, reels, leaders and lures are all on board. Bring your own gear if you prefer a specific setup.
  • Catch and release encouraged Golden Dorado are a managed species. We practice strict catch and release on all Dorado days.

THE SHOOT
Eared Dove
Zenaida auriculata — Paloma torcaza
The most abundant dove in South America. Flocks in the hundreds of thousands migrate between roost and feeding fields at first light. Fast, direct fliers that demand instinctive shooting — not the easiest bird, but one of the most rewarding. Entre Ríos combines eared dove with white-winged dove for a varied flight throughout the morning.

THE FISH
Golden Dorado
Salminus brasiliensis — Dorado del Paraná
Pound for pound, one of the most aggressive freshwater fish in the world. Dorado ambush prey from current seams and structure, hit with explosive violence, and fight at full speed until they are at the net. They grow to over 30 pounds in the Paraná system. Everything about cast & blast.

What is a cast and blast trip?
A cast and blast is a combined hunting and fishing programme where guests shoot in one half of the day and fish in the other. At NP Outdoors, the format is dove shooting in the morning followed by fly fishing for Golden Dorado on the Paraná River in the afternoon. The two activities pair naturally in Entre Ríos because the dove fields and the Paraná are within 40 minutes of each other, and both are world-class in their own right.
What is Golden Dorado and why is it special?
Golden Dorado (Salminus brasiliensis) is a large predatory fish native to the Paraná and Uruguay river systems. It attacks surface lures and flies with a violence that few freshwater fish can match, fights with speed and head-shaking jumps, and grows to over 30 pounds. Anglers who have caught tarpon, musky and steelhead consistently rank Golden Dorado among the most exhilarating freshwater fishing experiences in the world. The Paraná in Entre Ríos is one of the primary Dorado fisheries in Argentina.
Do I need fly fishing experience?
No. Fly fishing is the preferred method, but spin fishing with lures is equally effective and catches the same fish. Our guides work with anglers at all levels. The Paraná Dorado fishery is primarily a casting game — the guide positions the boat, you cast to holding water, and the Dorado do the rest. First-time anglers consistently have exceptional days.
How does a typical cast and blast day work?
The morning starts at 5:30am with a transfer to the dove fields. Shooting runs from first light to approximately 11am, when the dove flight naturally slows. The group returns to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon transfer to the Paraná departs around 1:30pm. Dorado fishing runs from 2pm to 6:30pm. The group returns to the lodge for an Argentine asado. Both the shooting and the fishing are run by the same NP Outdoors team — no hand-offs, no logistics for you to manage.
When is the best time for a cast and blast in Entre Ríos?
Dove shooting is available year-round. Golden Dorado peaks from September through April when water temperatures are warmest and the fish are most aggressive on surface presentations. The prime cast and blast window — late September through early April — gives you both activities at full strength. October, November and March are particularly good months for Dorado aggression.
Do I need a domestic flight to reach Entre Ríos?
No. Entre Ríos is 2.5 hours from Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) by private vehicle. NP Outdoors meets guests inside the terminal and drives directly to the lodge. There is no domestic connection and no lost travel day. You land in Buenos Aires and are on the dove fields the following morning.
